This collection of three films explores various aspects of childbirth
in the 1950s and early 1960s.
The first film is Labor and Childbirth (1950) - This film uses
a series of diagrams and narration to explain the phases of labor
and what a woman can do to prepare for going to the hospital and
what she can expect during each of the three phases of labor.
The second film is Dream Hospital (1953) - This short newsreel
showcases the hospital of the future - circa 1950s. It demonstrates
the cutting edge medical equipment that they have to help save lives
and make the hospital more comfortable for everyone - including
expecting mothers.
The third film is Sudden Birth (1963) - This is a fascinating look
at police training for the oh so awkward situation of a police officer
being in the position of having to help with a birth out in the
field. What makes this film so unique is that they actually show
a live birth happening in a car.
This DVD has a runtime of approximately 40 minutes.
