Massachusetts
Soldiers and Sailors of the Revolutionary War is a compilation of the service
records of all Massachusetts men who have performed war service between 1775 and
1783. The task of building this compendium was begun as a result of the General
Courts 1891 legislation calling for an indexed list of Revolutionary War
service in Massachusetts. The work was prepared by the Secretary of the Commonwealth
and began that same year and the completed volumes were published between
the years of 1896 and 1908. The result was approximately 688,000 entries spanning
17 volumes. Here
are some sample images of various pages taken from the series.
