Produced by the Department of Defense, Guns Are Different: Firearms Safety takes a very proactive approach to explaining how guns are different than more primitive weapons.

The film highlights a series of of situations that can lead to gun firearm accidents. It highlihgts how dropping a pistol can result in danger, how lack of care during firearm training can result in deadly accidents, how hunters can hurt a fellow hunter by getting too focused on the hunt and how a gun in the house can lead to a dangerous situation when it can be easily found by children.

The purpose of these accidents is to demonstrate a variety of situations that can occur by not practicing proper gun safety techniques - both when actively using the weapon and when storing it. By understanding these issues, the viewer gains a better understanding and appreciation of how important it is to always keep gun safety as the number one issue when dealing with firearms in any situation.
