WJSV Broadcast Day (9/21/39) Old Time Radio MP3 Collection on DVD
This collection is the complete WJSV Broadcast Day (9/21/39) and includes 19 different broadcast hours for a total of 19+ hours of listening enjoyment.
The original WJSV was a Washington, D.C. radio station, owned by CBS. Among the more famous events involving WJSV was the recording of its entire broadcast day on September 21, 1939 which is what is contained on this DVD. The recording includes many famous radio programs of the time (including Amos 'n Andy and Major Bowes' Original Amateur Hour), local programs featuring Arthur Godfrey and John Charles Daly before their national successes, a Cleveland Indians-Washington Senators baseball game, and a speech by President Franklin Roosevelt.
Here is a breakdown of the highlights of this special programming day. (In addition to the highlights, the day contained a variety of common product commercials of the day and several other short pieces.)
